accelerometer

Also known as a tilt sensor. Just by moving your phone in a certain way, you can control some of its features, like flipping it to switch from portrait to landscape view, or shaking it to change music tracks.

BBM

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is an ultra-fast messenging service that allows blackberry users to send and receive instant messages through their handsets. Users have a unique 'PIN' code - this is used to add new users to your network of contacts.

BlackBerry® email

Also known as push email. As soon as an email arrives in your inbox, it’s copied by BlackBerry® Enterprise Server (BES) and ‘pushed’ to your BlackBerry® through your network. It’s always active, so emails are constantly updated.

Bluetooth®

A wireless technology that lets devices communicate and share data within close range. It allows you to communicate with other phone users, sync with your PC, or connect wirelessly with devices like handsfree car kits.

data

This term describes a quantity of information, and is used in several ways. ‘Data transmission’ is the process of transferring information from one source to another, i.e. sending a text, while ‘downloading data’ could refer to an audio or video file.
