It's a code that lets you switch from one broadband provider to another without losing your broadband connection.

If you're with another broadband provider, simply ask them for your MAC code. If you're still in a contract you might be able to pay to end your contract and get your MAC code. Just enter the code when you join online and your broadband connection will be switched up to 10 working days later with no loss of service. Your current provider must give you your MAC code within five working days of your request.

It could take up to 10 working days to transfer your service. Your broadband will be switched with no loss of service.

You'll receive an installation CD with your modem which will automatically set up your broadband connection. If you want to keep using your existing modem, you'll need to change your username and password in your modem and computer. The manufacturer's set-up guide should explain how to do this if you’re not sure.
